Hey guys, it’s Sam with Under The Mouse Ears. You know - one of my absolute favorite things about Disney World is what I call “Low Fi Rides”. While it rarely makes anybody’s MUST DO list, it’s always something easy to do to fill up your WDW Experience with some zero to short wait times, not to mention a great way to check out some super historic and classic attractions.

I already told you my number 2 and 3 in this series: Carousel of Progress and the Peoplemover.
My number 1 Super-Lo Fi ride at Disney World is Spaceship Earth. Unlike the other 2 rides in this series, this particular attraction does sometimes have a wait, but not very often. One of the original rides that opened on the first day of Epoct, the geodesic sphere is almost as iconic to any themepark probably at least as much as Cinderella Castle is to Magic Kingdom.
Construction took over two years, but ever since it's debut in 1982, it's remained one of the most popular rides in Disney World. Considering it's proximity to the park's main gate, lines tend to slack off in later hours, but there's nothing quite like walking under the awe-inspiring structure, and even cooler - inside of it.
Like every older attraction, it too has undergone substantial revisions over the years. As technology has advanced, animation mixed with animatronics have only made the ride experience all the more engaging. Likening the earth as it's own time machine, you'll see the dawn of mankind, witness the evolution from the age of enlightenment, as well as highlighting modern advancements like the personal computer. When the cars reach the top of the structure, they rotate backwards, giving the audience a planetarium like view of the planet, as well as giving them a chance to experience their own future.
At the rides conclusion, the post show invites the passengers to enjoy a neighborhood of the future. Not to mention, a great way to enjoy the air conditioning and a break from the Central Florida sun.
